I used to have a place that would send the applicant a form, the applicant would fill it out and pay, and the results would be sent to me. Unfortunately that business no longer wants to deal with a one unit landlord. Anyone have a service they recommend?

One of the big three credit reporting agencies. I used it last time and it worked just the way you described.

I am 99% sure it was Experian.

Lol-well I never thought to just go straight to the source. Sometimes I think my one brain cell is overworked. I will give it a look tonight. Thank you.

Can you just ask the tenant to let you see a copy of their free credit report from each agency (annualcreditreport.com)? I had a friend with 8 houses that would do it. He didn't want a copy, just a few minutes to look it over. Most of the time he never had to - just asking weeded out a lot of them.
