I am trying to get ideas of where to acquire print services for 24"x 36" (A1/ARCH-D) paper drawings, I cannot use an online service.
For reasons, I cannot have my A&E provide me the hardcopies. So I have to generate them myself. Does anyone have experience with any of the chains or local shops around Metro Detroit?
UPS Store
Office Depot
Staples
Fedex
OTHERS?
Check for commercial printers in your area - googling "Detroit commercial printer" brings up a bunch. They're not necessarily chains. Construction companies use them all the time so they can handle large format.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Yup, thanks, I have a list of many with similar searches but so many of them have super glowing reviews or too few relevant reviews that I was looking for more non-anonymous recommendations.
ARC seems promising.
I used a place decades ago in Ann Arbor but didn't want to go that far.
Google Detroit Reprographics
I have no experience in/around Detroit, but a lot of reprographics shops are pretty poor at marketing and don't turn up in broader searches. Good luck with your search.
I was the print manager at a UPS store in WA. We had a large format printer that could print that size. But for 400 prints we would have outsourced it to a larger print facility. So, my suggestion would be to find a commercial printer in your area. You'll get a better price and a better product. Visit or call the ones you find to see if they will work for your project. Commercial printers love showing off what they can do and you can ask for a proof before they print all of them.
Thanks all I found many commercial printers and got everything printed without much hassle.
I ended up using a national chain called ARC. I actually found a local shop that was my first choice, but they seemed to simply not trust that my job was a tax exempt Federal job. So after chasing them for a few days without confirmation they would take the job, I moved on.
I got about 5 quotes and all had comparable prices. $900-ish
