Nah, he was dead before he took a bath. A bath in ice water was the old method for shocking the heroin dosed system into jump starting. In his case he liked coke, and snorted the wrong white powder.
As for Whitney, I believe it was listed as a combination of heart damage, cocaine, and drowning. My guess some coke in the system, heart was weak, didn't feel well, took a bath to feel better, passed out and slipped under.
