The wife and I stopped in at the Saratoga Auto Museum in friday. They have a collection of Woodys on display. The wife says "You and your dad are pretty good with woodworking, maybe instead of fixing the rust on my car just cut it off and build that" pointing to a Chrysler Convertible. " A wagon would be pretty cool too". Now for two days I have been wondering where I should cut and brace a 2002 Malibu to make a wooden convertible.

I want a build thread. An 02 Malibu woody convertible would be a hoot.

You possess mechanical masochism. That's why.

Malibus aren't particularly rust-prone but jeez, it's eight years old already.

I saw an '05 Maxima last month that had carpet hanging out of the front floors...

I forgot to bring your number. Went to the fancy dog store in town instead and bought a $4.00 cookie my dog didn't like.

The car doesn't have much rust except for a patch they all develop under the fuel filler that rusts from the inside out.

This seems easier. There was one for sale at the recent truck show. The wood was 1/2" plywood. It's cheaper to screw that up.
