I just don't get it. Why can't I get some nice cloth seats, heated or not in a fully loaded anything, (except some Fords). The last "premium" car with cloth seats that I drove was my Mommy's Buick with heated cloth seats. Which oddly people thought was more dangerous that heated plastic (fake leather) seats. What is the difference between Melted fabric plastic or melted smooth surface plastic. NOt like the cloth was cotton or wool or something.

Why do people want fake leather or even real leather? I don't understand what is good about cow skin?

I prefer Cloth. Yes Cloth is Best. Why not a CTS with Cloth? Why not a nice Q50 with some fancy weave cloth? Heck can't even get a Mazda 6 Touring with cloth from the factory.

Because I can't get in a car with cloth seats after surfing/mountain biking/ boating/ other outdoor activity without creating major stains.

Don't wear a wool coat when you ride in a car with cloth seats. You will get a shock every time.

High quality leather>High quality cloth>>Low quality leather>>>Low quality cloth

I like the way leather feels. Leather doesn't absorb my smell after hockey. Leather doesn't stain like cloth does, looks nicer to me...

Personal preference. I don't mind the cold in the winter (I love heated seats) and I don't mind the hot in the summer as it takes about 3 minutes for the AC to cool it down.

I grew up with vinyl seats. Cloth (or velour) was the ultimate in awesome once you've had a few vinyl burns

Leather is as cold as vinyl in the winter, almost as hot in the summer, and as a bonus, it smells horrible. You rarely see heated cloth seats because internal heat is a crutch for leather's shortcomings.

I'll take cloth seats and if I'm coming back to the car with dirt, I'll lay a towel over over the seat first.

I'm all about the heated cloth seats, especially being in a cold weather climate 6 months of the year. Leather is only good if it is quality leather, which basically means BMW/Audi class of quality and higher. Otherwise, it sucks IMO.

Volvo's, Audis, Subarus are the only ones I know that have offered heated cloth seats forever. They have recently started doing this in most modern cars BECAUSE DUH!

I think a lot of the appeal of leather is that, you know, it's leather, it's like more expensive and stuff, it has to be better, right?

I much prefer cloth, at least for the centers of seats. For the edges, leather or vinyl are acceptable.

I have a convertible I need to do an interior in at some point. Currently it's black vinyl (). Needless to say, it has spend most of its life with a Mexican blanket on it! I am looking into dark grey CLOTH centers and black vinyl (for originality sake) outers, but might consider leather if it's a bit cooler (temp wise).

You can add VW's to your list. My (former) 2002 WRX and my 2003 Golf both have heated cloth seats.

I can't understand why in our climate more cars aren't offered with them.

If you hate heated seats, you must not have ever climbed into a car at -30 and tried to get going right away.

Not -30 but it got very cold in Ohio. I don't like heat in general, just enough to get the windows clear and I'm good to go. Absolutely never have the heat coming from the dash vents pointed at my face. I can not stand that, makes me want to punch babies.

Since March, I have owned a dog. She doesn't particularly shed much, but she still does. Even with a pet seat cover As-Seen-on-TV thing, her hair gets everywhere and is a royal PITA to clean.

My next DD is going to have leather.

I have to say that my favorite might be what Ford did for the 2003 Mustang Cobra.

Leather edges with suede centers. Durability of smooth leather for the edges, non-burn yet soft and durable suede centers.

The one thing I regret about speccing my C30 when I got it was not getting leather. The light colored cloth seats are a massive stain magnet. We always get leather on our other cars, but figuring the C30 want's planned to be the kid hauler I got cloth. Mistake, leather all the way from here.

I guess I have not had the staining and mud issues others have had. I had an issue with the pleather in my ford edge when some cherry slurpie spilled out of the kids cup. It is the ultimate stainer I suppose. HAd to clean the stained area about 3 times to get it back the grey.

I enjoy the feel of the cloth over the pleather and leathers. I really dislike the smell of leather like Knurled.

In the few cars that I have owned with the pleather I am ok with them but always just don't feel at home in my car.

Not a fan of Audi so never noticed that they might have cloth on their interiors.

Wife and I both severely dislike leather seats. They're cold in the winter, hot in the summer and require a lot more preventative maintenance than any cloth seat I've ever owned.

Cloth seats trump leather seats when switchbacks are in your future.
