I'd be interested, but probably not a completely new forum. I'm on too many forums as it is.

I like the idea of having a purpose-built winter car. Personally I bought a '95 Civic coupe 1.5L auto and dropped a 1.6L high compression motor with an LSD equipped 5 speed, winter tires, a remote start and heated prelude seats. It does quite well, awd and better heat are the only improvements I could think of.

you guys overthink the "winter beater" concept.. it's a cheap car that you can (hopefully) drive thru a single winter season without it falling apart..

Winter beater doesn't really reach the kind of builds im thinking of. Winter warrior gets closer. :)

I live well south of the Mason Dixon line, but up in the mountains where they salt the roads at the slightest sign of snow, so winter beaters are a way of life 4 months out of the year. Sadly my winter beaters tend to also be our daily drivers. In so specific order 97 Cavialier (SWSBO's) 1990 Prizm (did someone say we have our own Forum?) and my 1986 GMC G20 van (with snow chains) I ronically, I actually drive our nicest and newest through the worst of it, 2011 F250 2wd with mud terrians, Snow chains, and a locking rear dif. (it's supplied by the state and required for my work) That aside I could go for a little lurking on a winter beater forum.

Ahem. You live in Florida. You don't need the 4WD. You should give me this car so I can make it through the Northern Illinois winters.

Southerners hoard cars like these so that some are preserved for posterity.

Just take over beater review and add a forum there. That site is never updated anyway.
