...is anyone else eagerly anticipating an announcement of a studio undertaking production of an updated version of this:
?
I know I am! It won't be the same without Robert Preston but, with the right people on board, I'm sure it would be epic.
Who would you choose to play Centauri?

In a perfect world? Jeff Bridges. The Dude meets Starman meets... the Music Man.

The Dude!
I hadn't thought of him. That is something I would love to see!
How about the other characters?
Jesse Eisenberg as Alex Rogan?
My wife suggested Ian McKellan as Centauri. That'd be a trip.
Time to get this movie so my kids can experience it too. So far they have loved all my childhood movies. Some things are timeless.
What about some bad 80's movies?
I have been waiting for a remake of My Science Project.

I loved it, but I'm not a very harsh movie critic. Most of the time I'm really good at the whole "suspension of disbelief" thing and can really get into a story. That is unless the film is about a subject that I already have an interest in and knowledge about... and they get everything wrong.
But sometimes all it takes is a new set of lifters to blow Matusky away.
It would be quite interesting to see it re-done using modern CGI. It used some of the most advanced computer graphics ever used (at the time) in a movie for the Gunstar sequences, I remember seeing articles and TV specials about the modeling rendering work. Hell- depending on what was still around as far as the original footage, you could probably do a 'remastered' version of the film just updating the CGI sequences and using the original live-action footage.
I'd be on board for seeing a remake of it- it remains one of my favorite 'guilty pleasure' sci-fi movies, and the Gunstar remains one of my all-time favorite tv/movie space ships (after the original BSG Colonial Vipers).
hmm...remake some 80s films huh?
Flight of the Navigator?
COMPLIANCE!
Monster Squad?
Wolfmans got Nards!?!
Wargames?
How about a nice game of Chess?
theyd be cool to remake, but I kinda also like them the way they are too...

Actually it wasn't horrible. No Schindler's List, but for a 80's summer movie, it did it's job.
Also, I actually enjoy My Science Project. Another 80's summer movie that was ridiculous in all the right places.

Hell I just want them to release that onto Blu-Ray.
I know 80s is retro right now but I don't see how to update last starfighter or wargames. One is based around an arcade game the other around text based games.
No real need to remake Wargames- just wait until they make the Ready Player One movie and it will be popular again anyway.
