Yesterday it occurred to me that while growing up in a county named Wood, I never took the time to appreciate the inherent humor in the name. Now 26 years after leaving there, I wonder how in the world it is that I do not have a "Welcome to Wood County" sign on my garage wall. Next time I go back there I will be on the lookout.
I grew up in Bourbon county. My favorite beverage
I alway forget how funny Goochland is until someone from out of town comes
Big Bone Lick State Park. Im not from the area, i do enjoy the sign along I-75 when i pass through.
I always got a kick out of Tallapoosa when I see the sign on my way to Mississippi.

I work in Transylvania County. Lots of locals with bumper stickers of bats. There are also numerous places that look like this.
Lived here years ago..

I always thought I-75 Exit 69 for Big Beaver seemed intentional... people new to the area seem to get a kick out of it.
On I-64 between Lexington and Louisville you can find a spot called Grafenburg.....but you have to know where to look. Worth finding though I've been told.

I live pretty close to Climax, GA
We've also got Ideal, Between, and Pitts
For you Biblical folks, I'm pretty close to Ephesus, Shiloh, and Siloam.
And I don't think I will ever understand what they were thinking when they named a place Gluck, or Ty Ty.

this has become my favorite thread
I recently drove through Beaver, Utah.
We're planning to get out to Transylvania County this year and do some exploring.
Lizard Lick, NC is still one of the more amusing places I drive through from time to time. I keep meaning to catch the National Hollerin' Contest.
There are 99 counties in Iowa, most of generally equivalent sizes.
Pottawattamie County though, is about twice the size, east-west as the others. We think it's so they could fit the name on the map.
On the way up to Alpine Valley WI there is Bong Recreational Area----- They had a hard time holding onto that sign whenever the Grateful Dead would play.
There are 2 rivers in the carolinas named the Greater Pee Dee and Lesser Pee Dee.
In PA we have the towns of Beaver and Shartsville.

LOL, no, I'm not a Wood County Johnson. J is my middle initial not for my last name.

The kicker on that one is it lies between "Blueball" and "paradise".
No joke

We have a Hixville here in mass.
