I was all in on the 19,000 Mustang
For some reason a Mk1 GTI has always stuck out to me as the car I'd want to drive if I could go back in time and get one new.
Sign me up for the MR2 all day long. I know it's a 2.2L but with that motor, It would last longer than I'm probably still alive.
Easier to list the cars I wouldn't DD from that list.
I'm a HUGE sucker for malaise-era land yachts.

Adjusted for inflation, yeah.
And the Yen kind of exploded in the 90s, too. MR2s retailed for $70k in 1997.

Anybody can make up numbers. Someone on the inter web will believe them. Repeat enough times, and...Wait, I don't want to offend the pc side. Or the other side. Or... what? Oooh look. Squirrel.
The prices shown are the what you would pay today for a car from the past original price? So a model T ford was $500.00 in 1918 but in today's dollars it is $24835.00 That $500 was alot of money back then! No wonder you could by alot of things for a penny. I was disappointed that the 1990 Miata was not on there :0(
Well, I did the math and the Gremlin is pretty much right on the money, and about what you'd pay for a low level subcompact today. Interesting, you could initially get a base model Gremlin with a 199 inline 6, 3 on the floor, no rear seats, and a fixed rear window for under $2000 in 1970. I drove a number of only slightly higher models in the 70's and they were significantly more car than any of the other subs of the day
The car I drive today is a subcompact with low power, manual trans, and no rear seats.
