Hi all

I'm in the process of resurrecting a utility trailer and putting in a rear axle assembly from a 2013 Grand Caravan. However, I want to swap the hub units to either 2000 Dakota 4x4 front hubs or d40 Nissan Frontier 2x4 front hubs so the BCD matches my yucktray.

The axle hole is a bit small for either hub but the Dakota hub is closer in size to the OD of the Caravan hub. How do I concentrically enlarge the hole in the axle to match the pilot sticky outy of the Dakota hub? Without much fussing around? Accurately?

I ASSume the hole must fit correctly to support the load safely, but that may not be the case.

Thanks in advance smiley

How close is close?

I had to enlarge a set of rotors for a BBK and used one of those 3 stone honing tools you rent from a parts store. I don't know how thick that axle hole is though?

In reply to iansane

84.9mm (~3.34") to 88.9 (~3.5") so 4mm on the diameter or 2 (not quite .080") on the radius

thickness of the mounting plate is 9mm or not quite 3/8"

It looks like this

Just a bump as I added some info above.

Also, I have a plasma cutter and die grinder and other means to add/remove metal. I'm looking for ways to be reasonably precise yet reasonably time efficient and cheap.

Cylinder hone lasted all of 5 minutes and didn't do much of anything. I have a couple ideas to try with what's left of the hone (peel and stick sandpaper) and I also think I can field strip one of the original hub units to use as a concentric guide to use a ridge reamer on it.
