and back,or Mexico if I choose.
Got my CDL renwal in the mail. It said if I go for the "enchanced drivers license", I won't need a passport for Canada or Mexico.
So since I do go to Canada occasionaly, I thought good deal. You need a bunch of stuff to prove you are who you say you are. SS card, birth certificate etc.
Took about a half hour to process everything.
Very nice lady took me through the whole process.
Cost $194.50 but that is for eight years.
All I needed to do was get a passport card. That, with my CDL is all the ID they ask for. I think the rules changed last summer going from a stack of papers to either an enhanced drivers license or dl & passport card
IceRacer, I thought you were an engineer?

Well engineers can have CDL's.

This included my license for eight years , the enchanced part was $30 plus I am from NYS where everything is more costly.

Yep, that's why I want out.
I just got an enhance license; I have to go to Yuma, Az. for two days in May so I'm bringing the bride for a week of sight seeing. Actually I'm looking for a retirement community that allows working on cars in the driveway and is full of college girls. Trish wants to see Mexico, 20 miles from Yuma. I have a Gubbyment passport but they advise not using it.

Since I had to renew my license anyway,I thought adding the enchanced part was a good deal and easily done.
I'd be happy if they can get my endoresments right. I have a recipt for a bunch of endorsements ad my license only has two. Luckily they didn't drop passenger so I can still work.
Your E36 M3ting me right? a basic drivers license renewal is $164.50 in NY !!!!! It's $18 here in Michigan. More and more Michigan is the perfect State to live in.
I need to add some endorsements for mine. It's always been lack of funds though. $100 background check for Hazmat. Passenger, I've previously passed the written, but I didn't have the $125 for another driving exam. I need a better paying job with more hours. Of course, if I had either of those right now my class B would be worth a few jobs in this area. I may have to look into the enhanced license when I move here in the next month or so. I also am going to have to go get a new physical in the next couple months if I want to stay current.

He has a CDL. They rob you pretty much everywhere depending on class and then additional fees for endorsements like Passenger, tank truck, tow truck ect.
Why come to Canada....GPS says 'Bushes and more Bushes' or 'Stay home and pay taxes'. Anyone wants to trade countries??????????

Have you heard the new stories about people going into Canada and having their background check? Seems that Canada uses a different check than typical US law enforcement. People who are just traveling on vacation are getting busted on things like 25 yr old drug (pot) charges.

In addition, if you have EVER had a DUI, vacationers are getting turned away at the boarder. Stories about people traveling with groups on ski trips and one guy is not welcome.

It happens the other way around, too. My uncle was caught bringing some smokes back from the States (into Canada - not declaring them), and was denied entry into the States 10 yrs. later, because of it.
We have old computers and old data...frozen on the hard disk!!
The license is good for eight years. $ 20.56 per year.
My endorsements are down to driving a bus, school or otherwise.
Just because you can get into Mexico, doesn't guarantee that you can get back out again.
In Ga, because I'm a vet, my license & endorsements are free.
I spent over an hour at the border taking a load to Canada. They did a back ground check and searched the truck. On the way back, US customs showed s complete lack of interest.

Sounds more like you took a load from Canada...
