"The Night Chicago Died", by Paper Lace. Man I haven't heard that song in forever. What a great tune. And now it's stuck in my head.
"Brother what a night it really was!"
"Mother what a fight it really was!"

See if you can find the 20+ minute long live version...I believe it was at the Filmore. I have it on a tape somewhere- it takes up the whole side. I could listen to that, En a Gadda de Vida, and the full album-length "Thick as a Brick" all day long.
My wife listens to "70's on 7" on Sirius a fair amount, so I've heard all of the obscurities of the 70's on a fairly regular basis.
Interesting history behind that song

Apparently it's all made up and wrong. Too bad.

Yeah, I wiki'd it when I got into work this morning. Oh well, still a cool song. Even better that they gave a copy to the mayor of Chicago, and he hated it.
In reply to Woody:
I'll see your Carl Douglas and raise you Murry Head

Or the Frank Zappa version from You Are What You Is. It's surprisingly... affectionate to the original.
Oh hell you want obscure 70's Ive got this on vinyl in an original pressing
With the song "if that aint love what is" on it

I've heard me some Frank, but I've never heard that one. Now I'll have to check it out.

They've been playing a bit of Christopher Cross lately. I probably shouldn't admit that I end up singing along.
If you appreciate the cheesy "smooth" tones from the 70's and 80's, you must watch the Yacht Rock series of short videos. They're hilarious:

really... you don't have that song in your collection???
It's in one of my K-Tel albums
and I still have a turntable to enjoy it too
The song I've been hearing a lot of lately is Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love"; they're using it in a Mitsubishi commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCcbkNkQmGc Original version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NQ-Bk63Hs8
I catch Casey Kasems AT40 flashback on the weekends. They do a 70s one then an 80s. Kinda fun to realize that Disco Duck was bigger than Madonna, Queen, Fleetwood Mac and Peter Frampton once! If you hear Muskrat Love by Captain and Tennille twice in one day you have my sympathy!

Oh, the canvas can do miracles, Wally--just you wait and see.
For me, Michael McDonald is a real guilty pleasure. 70's-80's soft rock overall is a guilty pleasure for me.
