Longmire. Very well written, very slow character development initially but BAM once the hook sets it's amazing.
Goliath Really great screen work by a number of character actors.
Broadchurch Seriously well developed drama by BBC, whodathunkit?

I totally missed Longmire when it was on TV (yes, you can watch it now on Netflix but I'm not signed up there) but the books are great.
Following a recommendation, we started a new one last night. From Finland, a series on Netflix called Border Town.
The first story was covered in the pilot episode and the next two. I'm really glad I didn't have to work today, we couldn't stop.
Really intense!

Mannix
Cannon
Streets of San Francisco
Kojak
Barney Miller
Ironsides
I spent a lot of time at my grandparents when I was growing up. Grandpa watched a lot of these shows. I was their remote control.
Barney Miller. Never occurred to me.
That was an after school rerun show for me just like Rockford files. Definitely one of my favourites. I especially like how they recycle the same group of actors over the years.
I've always enjoyed cop shows, crime dramas, whatever you call them. I couldn't limit myself to just three. You'd have to give me three from each decade, or something like that.
60's: Andy Grffith, Get Smart (does that count?), Adam-12
70's: Charlies Angels, Rockford Files, Columbo
80's: Magnum PI, Hill Street Blues, Miami Vice
90's: Homicide, Law & Order, NYPD Blue
00's: The Mentalist, Bones, NCIS
Getting thin now, since this is about when I quit watching TV:
10's: Elementary, Rizzoli and Isles
I really love watching Rizzoli and Isles because both of those ladies are so appealing and it is so playfully written.
A lot of good ones have been mentioned but I'll add:
True Detective - The first season was exceptional.
48 Hours/Dateline - Guilty pleasure and the only shows my wife and I seem to agree to watch at the same time.
Okay, off-script a bit but just binged a few seasons of Brooklyn 9-9 and thought it was great for mindless TV comedy with a police precinct backing.
I liked these because you didn't know who did it until they did.
Banecek (George Peppard)
Mannix ((Mike Conners)
Diagnosis Murder (Dick Van Dyke)

And thanks for that recommendation!

Kevin Nealon seemed legitimately high most of the time.
The new-ish Netflix show, Dead to Me, staring Christina Applegate sort of reminds me of early Weeds.
Though, I find the female lead in Weeds to be more attractive.

That was funny.
Columbo
The Brokenwood Mysteries (New Zealand based cop show, detective solves crimes, drives around in his cherished Holden Kingswood )
Monk (kind of silly, but I enjoy it.)
bonus mentions:
Harrow (Police pathologist solves and commits crimes.)
The Untouchables (I appreciate this on both an ironic level and a non ironic level.)
Midsomer Murders
A Touch of Frost
John Welsh said:I enjoyed Weeds, similar to how I enjoyed Dexter. Don't look for the reality or errors and just accept the premise for some mindless entertainment.
I like Californication in the same way but that show has no police/crime element unless you include the unintended sleeping with a 17 year old.
Dexter was so good until they got to the last season. Season 7 started the downhill slide as well, with Deb finding out.
They were supposed to stop the show after the Trinity Killer, but they got greedy.
The Flight Attendant on HBO Max with Kaley Cuoco (sp?) was pretty entertaining first season.
The Blacklist was good the first couple seasons but now how long is his blacklist? Seems like it goes on forever.
Original law and order, particularly the real early years when it was still a police procedural and not "RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES"
poirot with David suchet, because he rules and it's the best version of the Agatha Christie stories and will never be bettered
beck (or was it wallander?). Loved the books, series did alright in modernizing them I guess.
my tastes go more towards the procedural detective end of things
Castle blew it with the final episode.
I'm generally entertained by all sorts of cop shows - like The Rookie - even though they are clearly pushing agendas now.
Dr. Blake Mysteries and Mrs. Fischer Mysteries out of Aus are both great as is Brokenwood from NZ.
White Collar and Psych and Monk are all in the less serious side of police work. Person of Interest may also qualify.
Limitless lasted one season.
No love for "Republic of Doyle", eh?
