Many years ago, I was in Newport, Rhode Island with my girlfriend and I saw two of them on the same day. I was stunned that Ferrari made a sedan of any sort. There was something regal, but practical about it. They were never officially sold here, but there are a few around. Most Ferrari guys don't care for them, but I have always wanted one.
I have never seen one, but IMO they are the best looking Ferrari that you could really still use. I dont care for any of the new ones that much, and all the better looking older ones cost too much now.
I think it was a combination of those tail lights and those wheels on an upright sedan that grabbed me.

They are "affordable" when viewed within the context of 12 cylinder Ferraris. But they are fairly rare in the US. I only know of three that are currently for sale in the country.

That's a negotiating tool. There are ways around that little obstacle.

Just how horrible would one of these be to maintain? For $15k , terrible idea to try to get one instead of a near-perfect IS300?
One that wouldnt be as much of a horrible idea would likely be $25k, and have an automatic. If you actually wanted to use it a lot, probably a horrible idea though. I always think about how to get windshield glass for cars like that, I had to spend $775 to replace the glass in my milano after it got smashed by road debris, and it was already chipped again by the time i sold it.
Keep in mind that any purchases I made would be after serious driving school time. We'd also keep the cars we had now.
What five cars would I choose? I'd take the most expensive saleable cars that I could sell fot the highest prices, say 15-30 million. "Retire" and raise holy hell in a seriously modified black Exige. And I'd wear a black cape and pencil thin mustache and often laugh maniacally.

My first three choices are dependant on the weather, my mood and the height of Kilomanjaro on any given Thursday.
