I was heading out to the bike shop for their calendar girl contest when the highway was shut down ahead of me. There were plenty of warnings ahead of time, so I veered off the first exit I could and detoured. Made it in time. I assumed they were scraping off either body parts or chemicals if they shut down the highway.
On the way home, I took the road I was originally planning on getting off at and saw the westbound direction was STILL blocked off. Looking into it later, this is what I found:
W. T. F.
Body found on highway
Long story short, police were called around 02:30 when a man was attempting to cross the road. 13 hours later, a state trooper stopped to check out what appeared to be a dead animal, but found human remains. This guy had been repetitively run over throughout the day.
Those I spoke to that were through the area thought it was a deer that was hit real hard.
A lot of crazy E36 M3 in the news, but this one really made me say, "What The berkeley"...
That happened a few months ago in Atlanta. Trajic but predictable when people choose to walk on highways at night. Turned out the Atlanta one was a woman that walked down an access ramp on purpose.... Not even a stranded motorist.

You got the legs for that???
We once came upon a dead person in a rolled vehicle during a navigational/TSD rally. Some people looked, out of respect for the individual (and myself, I am not one to rubberneck) I declined.
Quite a few empty beercans around the truck, so it was hard to be sad for the individual. Still was creepy at 10pm at night on the side of a highway road in the dark in a valley
Yeah, that happened near my hometown a few years back, suicide. Calls came in as reports for someone laying in the highway at like 2-3am. Police send cop to check it out, the cop accidentally runs over them while responding.

I'd post pics from the contest, but I don't think they meet the standards here.
I drove past a car-bicycle accident on the way home from work today. a cop was on site, the ambulance was still on its way. The cyclist was on the ground, but fortunately was conscious and didn't appear to have serious injuries.
Overheard over CB radio (which I always wonder how we lasted decades without hands free CB radio use), "well that won't be using that organ now"
I went to a cars and coffee event this morning. While chatting with a couple of strangers about their vehicles a buddy of theirs came over to join the conversation. Then, he admitted that he had just had a fellow Viper owner show him how to open the hood of his own Viper !! What kind of "car guy" buys a Viper and can't figure out how to pop the hood?
In reply to DeadSkunk:
At least he asked someone.
Imagine if he bought a Corvette!
Back in Oz while a cop, talking to locals in Northern Queensland, they told me the story of two women in an SUV who conducted a Murder/Suicide pact in the middle of the road, they were discovered some time late by a local driver.
Two years later, busy berking road.
