Zombie Dale Sr vs Cyborg Richard Petty

Oh, and Sr. would win. You may not like his style, but the man could drive the wheels off of just about anything. Hell, he climbed out of an ambulance and finished the Indianapolis 500 in a car he had just rolled. One of the last of the old school NASCAR crowd.

Hey now, let's be a little fair. Mikey did win the All Star race at Charlotte in the Woods Bros #21 before his first 500 victory.

Cyborg Petty from the late 60's/early 70's

Zombie Dale Sr from the 80's

that's a tough one.

One thing that's a bit unfair about comparing them on pure numbers is that Petty lived long enough to run much, much longer than he should have. Dale never got that chance.

I don't want to take away from Earnhardt's talent, but imagine him running from 2001-2008 without winning a race. That's essentially what Petty did, and it might make the numbers look more even.

Compare both in their prime and it's a very tough call.

In an IROC race, I saw an F1 driver run Sr off the line into the grass right as the banking began. Sr stayed in it, kept it straight, drove through the grass and re-entered the racetrack near the end of the banking.

Can you imagine doing that and then seeing a really pissed off Sr in the rearview?

He only lost a few positions. He did tap the guy after the race was over, I think. He had amazing car control. Petty was good, but not like that.

I am not sure if I gave you the impression that I didn't like Dale Sr.'s driving style or not. Certainly not true. I think you may have meant this for others.

I miss the old school guys that could just tap a guy and motor by. They could do it and make it look subtle, unlike the guys these days who just run into each other and then throw their helmets.

The only modern guy I like watching is Tony Stewart. Smoke still has a little old school in him.

Dale was the better driver. Petty has great charisma, so I tend to like the King better. However cyborg augmentation to one of the legends of the sport versus zombification, which usually results in a decrease in coordination and reflexes, for the other legend we're talking about. I'm gonna have to go with Cyborg Petty on this one.

Check out the You Tube link and look at that little tap that Jarret gives Rudd on the run to the checkered - perfect example - Just seems to wiggle Rudd and cause him to loose a little ground and Jarret nips him at the line.

Just like I remembered - I've never seen another driver pull that off - those banking transitions are tough, not to mention the grass. Thanks!
