Full build log documented on Grassroots Motorsports Magazine forum at https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/sand-rail-autocrossskid-pad-build-or-why-my-wife-hates-me/96288/page1/

It's a long read but there are lots of photos and detail on what went into building this.

Runs and drives great, a bunch of fun! I just prefer building over driving and its time for the next project.

$5000 turn-key $3500 as a roller, no engine Add $950 to the price and I'll throw in a Master Tow heavy duty tow dolly that is great for moving her around.

Those are GRM only prices, you'll see it listed elsewhere for higher

Will consider trades, preferrably plus cash. Especially looking for a VW based trike or VW Thing driveable project.

I'll get these out of the way now:

1) Is is street legal if I add some lights?
2) Will you trade it for my non-running 1978 UJM?
3) Will you sell just the wheels/tires?
4) Will an LSx fit?

1) Yes, depending on your state it can be street legal with the addition of lights. But some states have really silly laws.

2) Um...yes, non running UJMs plus $4950 are acceptable

3) Yes, wheels and tires are available for $4000

4) Of course it will, but are you man enough to do it! ;)

Is that good or bad?

Good. It was meant as a compliment.

I shall take it as such. And this may be moving along faster than expected...and I shall have a new frightening thing to share with the class. Talks are still in the early stages, I have time to be convinced of better deals still :)

FWIW if you choose the roller option and are a bit crazy I will for a minimal price throw in a Subaru WRX 2.0t motor. You'll need to redo the heads (timing belt failure at low speed) and get a new turbo but wiring and ECU are with it so it could happen ;)

If anyone has serious interest in this make me an offer, I'd like to get it gone to raise money for the rebuild of the daughter's car.

Make me an offer as a roller I'll throw in the Subie motor for free and you could make something really ridiculous! :)

Sale pending, took a deposit today on it as a roller. Going to keep the 2.0 bus motor for a future bout of stupidity.

final negotiated roller price was sadly not enough for lovely truck and transport costs and this time of year I struggle to make the house payment so hard to do anything more :( Come spring we'll be flush again ;) Temptation is still very high although I do already have my next project lined up and waiting, yet I still look at other things, its procrastination, the next project is a big one and I am having trouble getting started.

Just giving you a hard time. We still haven't found the right buyer, so it's starting to look like we might end up hanging on to it for right now. It might still be there for you in the spring. I had really hoped to move it this fall before it got too deep into "ran when parked" status.

I'm still at a loss as to why it's not moving, it looks to be in great condition and your price is more than fair. My real issue is I keep distracting myself with other projects as a way to procrastinate on my real project, I promised myself that after the Lizard went it was time to start building the Wartburg again, it has definitely lapsed into basket case status (fully disassembled and collecting dust) and I need to change that.
