Those phones supported 45,000 people in employment in Cicero, IL at the height along with a few dozen case studies.
The history of the plant is really interesting and don't forget we were only allowed to rent those phones until the 1983 breakup. That table might reflect thousands of dollars in monthly rental fees.
One thing I hate about the South/Florida, the estate sales always suck.
This looks fun to wander through
Phew. Saw the title and was like NO! I'm trying to get a set of Audi wheels from an estate sale in CT and didn't want any competition. Estate sale is 98% furniture so I'm not holding back on other car stuff.
Those rotary phones used to be big money especially in cool colors like red. Nowadays it looks more like $40-$50/ea but that's still something when you have a pile of them. I remember getting a pile of peach colored touch tone 2500 desk phones mixed in with other stuff and being shocked at how much I got for them. Took a while to sell all 20 or whatever but I cleaned up.
