I know it's a dumb question but how does it work? Is it a transponder?

MyChron Light TG User Manual It was used for kart racing so I cant speak on how you would use it for Autocross or car racing but The lap receiver is connected to the logger through a cable. It has to “see” the transmitter installed on the side of the track. Install it with the eye, looking to the transmitter. You can configure the tracks, it has split times, session modes, memory and data recall.
