$150 extra for a 6.0 is definitely a deal. Everything you can do to a 5.3 like a cam, springs, heads, etc. will give you bigger gains on the 6.0.
If the 6.0 is just as complete that's a pretty good deal. Buy the most complete engine you can and just get it running is the key to swaps and not losing motivation.
okay dumb question: if a truck got hit hard enough in the front to break the balancer, and crack the timing cover: is there a risk that the crank is damaged? or can i replace the balancer/cover and run it?

I'd buy an engine like that for $150-200 tops as a spare but not as my primary swap engine.

What are you trying to change on the pcm? Universal patcher is great for VATS delete and a couple other simple things. PCM Hammer/LS Droid can go pretty far with tuner studio and the right XDF files.
