Now THERE is a hole in the water to throw money into! Such an affordable buy in and you'd be deep into the five figures before you knew it. Assuming you didn't just pull the motors and junk the rest which would be sad but seems likely.

I wonder if one of those is counter rotating?
 

The could be a surprising discovery for a CL engine buyer if someone tries parting that out.

From someone more knowledgeable than me.

"Yes one is counter rotating. And no they're not "cobra jets" or "shelby" engines. The 427 marine package was basically a low rpm industrial engine. Yes they had a 427 cross bolted block, but had low compression pistons and mild cams and hydraulic lifters. They do not have tunnel port heads. The opposite rotation engine only needs a cam, distributor, oil pump and starter to convert back to standard rotation."

To me, they just sound like they need a snail added.

Yes. I looked down the rabbit hole when John posted it on FB...

I saw on the one FE site that someone had a side oiler block drilled as a center oiler. So, Ford played with whatever the boat person wanted. ChrisCraft allowed a max of 4000rpm and really wanted 3600 max. Interceptor said their peak power was 4600 and 4000rpm max. Overall, you replace the cam and springs, it'll easily turn 6000rpm.

The RR motor just needs the above parts replaced and a groove or slit removed on the crank for regular rotation.

Only problem is if these motors don't have a closed cooling system, they're garbage if they saw saltwater. It turns the cooling jackets to a porous "mush", which isn't fixable.

Ford drilled center oiler blocks on side oiler castings all the time.  Something tells me that side oiler blocks required solid lifters, no oil passages to the lifters, but I am not 100%.  I know the early FEs had no oil passages to the lifters.

 

If it is a truck block, there are going to be a lot of weird things not compatible with passenger car engines like the crank snout dimensions.
