when was the last time you saw one of these?
We pulled the stock Vega Dura-Built out to put the 327 in. Did a gasket and timing belt re-build, paint and detail, new parts where needed, header just for fun and sold it for $1.200. Paid for the new carpets and upholstery.

1987 when the engine in my (second) Vega wagon jumped time. At the time I was in high school and the idea of repairing a timing belt was beyond my comprehension. I remember being upset when I sold the car for $200 and saw it on the road the next day. My first car in 1986 was a mint (no, really) Vega Estate wagon which also jumped time. I towed that one to the junkyard with my Stepfather's Chevy Spectrum parked behind it in the pic below.
Now I'm rambling, but I just had a funny little memory/connection. A year or two after the second Vega died, I put a fuel pump in that Spectrum on the side of the road. I remember being very proud of how much I'd learned to be able to diagnose and repair that one quickly.
