Alternatively, I think Toyota has shims not terribly priced; this is from memory, and I ran across the info when doing the work in my parents garage after the divorce - love my parents, but they see a car apart and start amping up about things being stuck in their garage forever.
Luckily I had the sizes I needed between the bad head and swapping my originals around. But, the Toyota shims were in stock (probably east coast, and at 3-4 days away for me, it was easier on our collective psyche to button the car up...).
I think I found that info on Miata.net.
$13 is the cheapest I've found them.
