Anyone here understand how welders work and are able to repair them? I got a decent Matco welder in a trade deal and it doesn't work so I'd like to repair it if I can. TIA!

Man, Tough question...Depends on what's wrong with it.
Is it a MIG? Start with the trigger, and work your way back. Are there burned out fuses anywhere? Usually, a close visual inspection will tell you if a component is shot. Take some covers off and post some pictures.
What part doesn't work?
They're probably made for Matco by someone else. Find out who the someone else is and you can probably get some information.
Snap-On welders used to be made by Solar for some reason. Solar can barely make a battery charger that works.
Start by Googling the model number and see if you can find a service manual anywhere. I have fixed my 50 year old Miller TIG a couple of times; fortunately I have the schematics and parts are still (mostly) available.
If it's a MIG and has a torch issue, you can buy just liners, replacement rollers for the wire feed, etc.. depending on who made it for Matco.
You'll need to log in to post.
