Bought the game today.
I'm hooked. From the current discussion is sounds like I need to start cruising the auctions. Looks like I picked a lousy week to quit surfing Craig's List.
Now working on my Ford affinity. Just got free parts.

Made it to LV30 today and started building some D and C class cars for online races. They have one or two broke cars already. The super stock dodge that comes in the DLC is not 13 seconds a lap faster than my RX7 around Infineon's road course even if Jesus Christ is driving.
Other than some people taking me out on the last lap of a few races and the epic pileup at the first corner of every race the online play is much better IMO. Sadly i can't seem to make the second gen RX7 very competitive. Keep getting beat by the AMX, 90's Civics, and that damn Dodge but i put it up in the club garage so have fun with it.
Yeah C class is all Javelins right now, the PI for those has to be off. The Darts are tough also. Every C class lobby I've hit has several Javelins in it so people caught on quick.

Yeah, it's been quite a good week for buying cars that people have priced stupidly cheap. I have close to 200 cars without breaking much of a sweat, or my piggy bank.
for all of those who want to want to join in our Spec Miata club, Fit_Is_Slo and I have built a Gen 1 Miata to D345. Here are the build sheet:
Engine/Performance: -Street Air Filter -Street Exhaust -Street Oil and Cooling -Everything Else Stock
Suspension/Brakes/Chassis: -Street Brake Upgrade -Race Springs and Dampers (Spring Rates 700lb Front and 325lb rear; per Mazdaspeed Spec Miata suspension kit) -Roll Cage and Full Weight Reduction -Sport Anti roll bars/ Front & back -Everything Else Stock
Drivetrain: -Street Clutch -Everything Else Stock
Wheels and Tyres: -Sport Tire Compound -15 inch wheels -205/50r15
Aero: All Stock
Tuning: Spring Rates 700lb Front and 325lb rear; per Mazdaspeed Spec Miata suspension kit. Other than that is driver's preference. As long as all modifications are added, and no additional upgrades have been made, the tuning setup is up to you.
Livery All cars will be required to run a number plate on each door, as well as number and class on the hood as well as Mazdaspeed stickers on both sides of the car and front end.
^ ^ recommendation- ^ ^
Save the base tuning setup to your storefront, and share one to the club garage. That way it's always available for pickup games.
You need to add a diff to that. In the game, the car doesn't come with one. Also, are you allowing any wheel with that, or just the Team Dynamic ones?
I got the word today that I'm getting an interview Thursday with the company my girl works for, so I may be working four, 10 hour evening shifts a week instead of this night shift garbage. I hope I get it, because that should free me up for a little online racing action!
Also, took a break from Forza today to download the NFS: The Run demo. Wow, it's laughably bad. I was kinda thinking of boycotting the game for the whole Porsche debacle, but I think I can skip it on merit alone.
Man, my whole weekend went by and i didnt get to race with anyone!
When are you guys on?!
I'm a bit pissed, that after playing the Forza series for years I have to now buy a wheel. You simply can not wind out/in the steering while applying power/brakes as effectively w/ a controller. Silverstone in the MP4-12C is just irritating with it
Well, it is what it is. Im sure i am missing out w/o the wheel... well on everything except the $150 in tire money...
you could always try to find one of the supposedly discontinued microsoft wireless wheels.
its not the best, but it doesnt break the bank. Gives you enough feedback to tell what the car is doing, and you can be way more smooth and precise than a controller. Ive used this wheel since Forza 2 and I like it enough.
FYI the default button layout for Forza 4 has A (green button) as the clutch and B (red button) as the handbrake. Easy to reach with your thumb, and also easy to hit both at the same time if you need to use the handbrake.
IF you look at used ones, be sure to test it out at first to make sure it centers correctly and everything works. If you cant test it out first, at least make sure you are able to return it if somethings not right. My first one out of the box didnt center, took it back and traded it for another. It was a common issue with the wheels when they first came out. After almost 2 years I broke one of the paddle shifters from slamming gears so to speak. Took that back to best buy and had the 2 year replacement warranty on it, got another for free + a gift card for the price difference. So Im on my 2nd one now and I am more gentle with it and it still works perfect. If it eventually breaks I guess then its time to step up to that new fancy wheel.
I did a race at Best Buy last night. Used some sort of magic horseshoe controller. Not sure what the settings were, but the driving didn't seem like anything to write home about. I just selected restart race from what was up on the screen. Either there were a lot of driving aids turned on or there is some sort of arcade mode in the game. I drove some sort of ferrari on some sort of fivtoonal track that was all fairly high speed. It sounded good was my biggest impression.

When you're watching Netflix. I jump on and off throughout the weekend, but was with family on sat which is probably why I wasn't on.

Nonsense my good man! I am still rocking the controller. Aside from having to use ABS and manual with no clutch, I am still somewhat competitive.

Yes! World domination!!!
You realize that Javelin's are that good in real life, right?
Got my Fanatec wheel and pedals today. Now to find something suitable to mount them to until I can get something built...
I have one of the older wheels, it's quite good, other than the paddle shift only setup. I'd prefer a gearshift like on a G25/27 but I'll take what I can get.
How do I get added to the tgrm? I sent a request, is that all I need to do?
Online racing with the genpop sucks bad, it's impossible to race clean. Every pass I tried was met with a crash, what a joke. All guys talked about was drugs, not working and how awesome they were. If its always like that, I'm out.
Yeah, I won't even consider racing online against people I don't know. Take one person, insert them into a competitive environment, and remove all identity beyond a psuedonym.
Hell, I don't want to race people I do know online because I know how often I bump-pass the computer and I don't want to do that to a real human, hahaha.
That's why I love the rivals stuff. I get to race people, when it's convenient for me, without worry of pissing them off (well, outside of beating their times).

Accidents happen. Its a game. Come play with us!
But in all seriousness, rivals mode kicks ass.
ReverendDexter wrote: I am really curious about a wireless wheel they were demoing at Best Buy... anyone have any experience with these? It's the xbox wireless speed wheel, and they seem to go for about $50.
This thing is sweet. the wife surprised me with the game and this wheel. I have been about 1 second faster with this over a regular controller. It really helps with the marginal turn in instead of a semi digital input I normally have with a regular "joystick"
I will warn, this does not have all the buttons, so I have not been able to tune with it. I have only played once, so I have not gone back in to try having a regular controller connected to tune and this one to drive.

I agree %100 that accidents happen, but when you pass a guy and he deliberately smashes into you so you can't pass, that's no accident.
I must look at this Rivals mode.

I can only speak for our group. We don't do that.
Sperlo beat me too it.
The other day, Scott and I had a really tight opening lap on Sebring Club. I was in a '79 Camaro, and he was in a BMW 2002. I knew I could pull away on the straights, and he knew he needed to get ahead of me in the twisty bits before the straight to have a chance. We touched three or four times on the opening lap, but nothing that got either one of us out of shape. Just good hard racing.
