TMP was horrible so limerock was selected. I think it will be a fun track.
Final race results and final standings. Congrats to Colin for a win. Racebrick made a good late run to try and challenge. Dean make consistent (mediocrity?) pay off. Darwin JUST sneaks past Gameboy for 4th. Drillin also makes a good late charge.
So I played around some today with the TCL cars... I really think we should use a group of cars rather than a 'spec' model for the next series. If we find that one car is a 'ringer', we can always do a BOP in addition to the usual handicaps. I did note that they were a couple seconds a lap slower than the Miatas we were just running, but some of them are more fun to drive.
I like the TCL cars, but I also really like the GT Legends cars, though I guess you guys ran those in a series before I got involved. They're fast and fun, but some are pretty challenging to drive, at least out of the box.
I'm open to whatever, but I do think we should go back to a series with a variety of cars rather than another 'spec' series.
Thoughts?
The TCL cars are awesome. I don't think we need BOP/handicap. They are produced by a team of people that spend countless hours balancing, I don't think we will do a better job without devoting > length of a series to doing it. If one is better one track vs. another, no big deal, in a 10 race series that will equalize. We may consider doing a subset of them though, vs the entire pack. These 4 together are so amazing: BMW2002, Datsun 510, Ford Ford Econobox, Mazda RX3

I was wondering about that... LOL. Probably due to the Dubai spammer a couple months back!

I try and keep the server up 24/7 so we can test any time.
BTW. I set the tire ware higher than normal to see how they drop off. They should make a 15 minute race the way it is configured. But I did not try all the cars. The cars I did try there were differences in the ware rate as well as what tires wore more.
I also set fuel usage higher. Not so we would need pit stops but more so I could see handling changes on cars as fuel burns off combined with the accelerated tire ware. All this is just me testing unless people want to add that dynamic to things. It is a fun dynamic to add but not all people will like it.

I only got a couple of laps in before I got a phone call and had to bail yesterday, but I was wondering why my fuel gauge was dropping so fast...
Testing tonight resulted in these results.
The A110 I think I could get into the 34's but you would really be driving it. The RX3 I thought was going to be better and the 510 just seemed horrible but was actually a fast car. The other surprise to me was the MGA. It is such an easy car to drive. I think that because it only has a 4-speed it is being held back. It is such an easy car to drive!!!
The BMW has its quirks but get it right and it is really fast. The 911 I think I need more time in it and it should be very fast. Probably some diff work.
BTW the testing I did was on the base setups of the cars. The only change I made was to gearing if a car was over or under geared I corrected that. Everything else was unchanged.

The BMW is definitely quick, and also reasonably easy to drive. The Ford RS1600 is also fast on a perfect lap, but harder to get right... I think the Ford will be a lot harder to be fast in traffic. I didn't like the Alfa at first, but it's pretty quick as well.
I was also disappointed with the 510... never meet your heroes? LOL
I tried the Mercedes and Fairlane and they were awful... just couldn't get them to turn. I probably gave up on them too soon, but they were a little frustrating.
I kind of want to test them myself on a different track. A bunch of my issues come from ridiculously unstable braking into T1. Its a huge +/- 1 second wildcard. I need to figure out how to tame that, but in the meantime I may check parity on Road Atlanta or Autumn Ring.

They do have their "advantages" in traffic! Dean did pretty good with the Merc the last time we used these. I think the turning is a lot of trail braking and careful power oversteer use.

We always called that the 'lugnut rule'... in a 'coming together', he who has the most lugnuts wins. At sea, they call it the law of gross tonnage.
