What is discord and how does one join? I still need to go get a cheap headset.
Check the second post in this thread, it has a guide on how to set it up. If you have any questions, post them up here. Worst case it will show what we need to update in the instructions.
Do your best to show up on Wednesday, we can talk you through most things. We can use the Discord chat if needed also (if you don't have a headset).
Once you get Discord set up if you have a "smart" phone get the app for that as well. Handy to chk in and see if people are racing and what not.
I'll try to show up this evening, no guarantees. I've really been focused on iRacing.
I have downloaded AC though. Only tried one quick test drive with an E30 M3.

GT3 cars were way less fun than I had hoped. The FWD group were lots of fun. I think the Mini that is up now is going to be great fun.

Next week will be interesting as I will be running the server from the lake house.
The server will be going down shortly. . . it may not be back up as I will have to set up the router for it at the lake house and that turned out to be a PITA here so we will see. In short there may not be a server up this week. If we don't end up doing Wednesday racing I propose we do something on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday night as I will be back then)
Guess this is the motivation I have been looking for to try out the other server software...
That would be cool!!! If nothing else try getting the version I have off steem and see about setting that up.
What I learned is you have to open ports on both your router and in windows defender for both inbound and outbound. You also have to set your pc/server to a fixed ip. Sounds simple and it should be but for some reason my router (Verizon Fios unit) did not have a setting for one of the things that the server setup instructions say you need. That was the hang up I ran in to. Not sure how I got around it but I did. I think I just set up the udp ant tdp and then mimicked the http settings on a duel udp/tdp pass through.
I drove the Mini some last night and it is.... something. If I had to guess I would say the handling characteristics may be partly due to the default rear sway bar setting being 25,744 N/m.
I really like the mini. Just lift a little drag brakes a little if needed chuck it in and add power or lift a little as needed to control rotation.
I didn't say I didn't like it, just that it has some character and a seriously wtf sway bar setting.
It drives a lot like that FWD cup car (Clio?) we used to drive in PC.
I would be curious how it would be with less rear bar though.
Still no server up. I can not get in to the netgear router. It is not showing up on the network. It should have a default address of 192.168.1.1. I tried scanning the network and I get nothing. If I could get in I could get in I could set it up.
Don't worry about it too much, we can try on the weekend.

Yeah, but a different front end (content manager). I will look into the headless interface later. I think I have a decent machine around here I can dedicate to that.
