GT6 Time Trial Series - Event 2

Welcome to the (un)official GRM Time Trial Series!

This series will be run as a hot lap event in arcade mode and will consist of one car on one track per event. Each event will be open for 2 weeks, and submissions should be posted in this thread via screenshot of your time. Being as we are running in arcade mode it's on the individual to ensure their car is compliant with the tuning, PP, and tire limits for the event. We're on the honor system here and since there isn't anything on the line I doubt there would be intentional cheating, but be mindful that an already owned car may be tuned beyond the series specs.

Rules:

• The event will be run in Arcade Mode > Single Player > Time Trial
• Rankings will be done based on the fastest posted flying lap
• Only clean laps count. The racing surface is defined as the area between and including the white lines, and the curbing. Two tires must remain on the racing surface or vertically above to count as clean. If track contact cannot be 100% determined, consider it dirty. Rumble strips count as part of the track.
• No contact with barriers or objects is allowed.
• No driving aids except ABS are allowed.
• Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules

• Weight: 1560
• Tires: Sports Hard
• Track:Nurburgring GP/F

Other than the switch to Sports Hard tires, only an oil change and brake bias adjustment is allowed.

2:23.193 Is my best so far took photos and will post them when I get a chance. There is at least a half second in there and maybe more for me as I was able to get up on my time by .83 of a sec but I tossed it away in the last sector twice.

Matt just a thought. If you used the track that air has selected for the series in the other thread a week before then people can get practice for the up common races while also doing the time trial.

Or is the point to vary things up a bit and keep the things separate. ( that is ok two)

Not a bad idea, but these events are open for 2 weeks so there isn't really a way to align them. Also, this series is aimed at people who want some friendly competition but either aren't interested in or can't regularly make the series races. There will be crossover, but isn't supposed to align with the existing series.

I'm out of town this weekend and don't want to attempt editing on my phone, so I'll get the standings updated on Monday.

My current best is 2:19.456. Your turn, spool

will take pic in a bit, there's more speed there. out of 4 laps I only had 2 without spinning the thing out in turn 1... Worst part is I can't figure out how I spin out an understeer-y car without trying...

There's more speed there, but i'd need more practice to find it. I think most of it is in the details? Also I missed the apex on a corner. I find I can throw the car into a corner too fast, using the slide to slow the car, then get on the gas unusually early as long as it doesn't kick it into a slide.

Also found out the car can accelerate, turn, or go over a bump- any 2 of those 3. Keeping the lap 'clean' makes it faster, this thing gets crazy unhappy hitting the rumble strips, especially that hard left-right near the end. hit those and it's a recipe for a slide-y, ruined lap. If you want to hit it with the inside tires, do so in a manner that allows you to do it as straight as possible, and even then just barely hit the apex.

5 seconds faster than me. I am going to have to try sliding I more to scrub off speed. I have been running neat clean laps and I only have about a second t gain with that method.

I don't slide enough to cause much tire smoke, but watching the tire temps they do sometimes go red, especially the outside front tire. I may be monkey-handling the steering a bit, i'm not a fan of understeery cars, plus i'm crazy out of practice. Last time I played this was around that time that one guy (non-grm-er) was yelling all like a shiny happy person during a practice. Geez that seems like forever ago...

I watched the replay, one thing I do to initiate that turn in slide is a little scandinavian flick. I found trail braking to not work quite so well, need to throw the car a bit to rotate on turn in.
