I have been struggling with not riding my K75RT very much. I have put over a thousand miles on the Enfield over the past two months and something under 200 on the BMW. I had been thinking about swapping the BMW for a Monster or a Bandit or a 919 or Hawk or something, and then I realized, all of these bikes are lighter and unfaired, much like the Bullet that I love so much. There were naked Ks, plus reading all of the builds and drooling over pictures of cafe Ks made me think, let's just try taking all of the big heavy plasticky stuff off of the RT.
So I bought a 6" off-road truck light in a cool chrome housing, stripped out the off-road H3 light, put in a sealed beam unit with the same H4 prongs as stock, used a bracket that formerly held on bodywork, replaced the RT handlebars with dirt bike bars from the XL600R that is still in a coma (it'll get them back eventually, probably even before life is breathed back into its husk!) and... Wow!
It feels much more lively, now I have wind and a view and with the shorter, wider bars, it feels nice and nimble. I haven't weighed any of the plastics and hardware I've taken off, but it just feels like a tremendous difference.
And, I know, this thread is worthless without pics, but my phone stopped charging so it's in Geek Squad's hands getting my replacement, and that's the only camera I have! So they'll be coming soon.
But basically we started with this:
And now it is more like this:
