I've been seriously thinking that I'd bite the bullet and finance my first vehicle to buy a new Guzzi V7, but it looks like I'll have to wait to see whether this comes to fruition. This looks really promising.

Hopefully they do better than the SportClassic bikes did. I really liked the looks of the 1000GT.
I also hope Honda sees this and wakes up. CB1100F could have been a lot cooler...

Ducati will use the bigger and more powerful 87bhp engine from the 796 Monster as it will not be aimed at the lower end of the market; rather a more wealthy type of buyer.
And I am officially no longer interested. Why can't we get some actually cheap classic bikes?!! I get that they're aimed toward people who remember this style when it was new (Read: old and moneyed), but I would be much more interested in a small, light, and inexpensive modern classic. You know, the way they actually used to b...oh never mind...

We can. We do. Put your money where your mouth is, and go buy one of these right now:

Not to mention the Bonneville SE and Guzzi V7 come in right around $9k, which is pretty much the cheapest Euro bike you're going to find, and they're both great motorcycles.
I'd bet the Duc Scrambler comes in around $12-$13k, which I don't really consider all that outlandish for a new Italian bike. And if Duc's pattern plays out again, they'll introduce a decontented "entry-level" version if the sales seem to support it for around that same $9k figure.

How cheap is cheap? $8000? $6000? $3500?
The new CB1100 is $11k, the V7 classic is $8-10, hell new Bonneville's and Sportsters are $8-12k. Motorcycles made out of metal with 500cc+ engines aren't cheap. Would you rather have a Sportster 1200 custom or one of these new Ducati's?
I can't wait to see this bike in the flesh, here's hoping those are tubeless spoked wheels or there's a tubeless option. Long live the air cooled Duc!
I could really see the Ducati Classic/Scrambler being sub $10k to begin with. It looks likeit comes with the 696/796 air cooled engine out of a Monster and those out the door can be had for around $10,500. I really like the idea. Triumph seems to have good sales with the Thruxton, Scrambler and Daytona so I don't see why it wouldn't do well for Ducati, especially if they could get it to be an entry level price point for them.

What I'd like is the one of the bigger engines in the V7. V11 Classic, for instance, were they to make one.
Who am I fooling, I'm not leaving my VFR, but I still think a V11 Classic would see some sales.

Sigh.... I weigh 220 pounds and live in hill country, I'm not getting a 250. You've always been able to get classic styled 250s, but you can't tell be there's not a gap between them and all the recent modern classics at 800+ cc and $8000+. I'd like something sporty and classic in the 450-500 range for $5000-$6000. And right now they don't make it.

Build a Ryca Cafe racer (or scrambler, or my favorite a bobber) out of a Suzuki Savage?
