Well, that didn't take long....but when your product is undercut by the comparable MV Agusta of all things, you should probably expect this.....

It looks like they were looking for another round of funding and just didn't get it. Certainly, selling $20k bikes in a $13k market didn't wow any investors. They were pretty awesome bikes though.

Looking for a bright side... maybe he was just trying to get out from under the thumb of Hero moto and has a buyer lined up to take it out of receivership?

I don't see the point in $3k over what was honestly its most direct competitor, the KTM RC8R....I give the man props for trying, but he would have had better luck going after the 600c class since 75% of the Japanese builders haven't updated theirs in almost a decade.....instead, he chose to play in literbike land which has seen bmw come in and E36 M3 over everything, and all but Suzuki build a completely new bike every 2-4 years.

It sucks. He's one of the most innovative motorcycle engineers out there. The original no compete from HD pushed EBR into track bikes and couldn't build street Bikes until recently. I wish him the best. I've always been a fan of Buell.

What no competition clause? HD doesn't build anything close to what EBR did.....unless you're referring to up until 6 or so years ago.

Erik had a non-compete clause with Harley that expired in 2011. Harley also retained ownership of Buell intellectual property developed during the time he was with them. Basically, it meant the only real door open to him was into racing bikes. Which is something he's said he very much wanted to do. Though not the way he was forced to do it.

Well, this makes me sad. My 1125CR is an excellent bike, as are (were? ) the new 1190s. Hopefully something is in the works here that we're not seeing- repurchased by H-D? Polaris?

So I was only off by 2 years?

In reply to ¯_(ツ)_/¯:

They were nice, but the 1190 was overpriced at best, and was outclassed by the others in class street bike wise pretty quickly....and HD won't repurchase them, not enough chrome and thumping slowness. Polaris might, but who knows.

If Eric can't make it, what hope does Motus have?

Well, good question.....they seem to be after the Goldwing/RoadGlide crowd, which seem perfectly happy mortgaging the house to buy one.
