First day of the 2013 riding season I racked up 78 miles and my first verbal warning, I need some new hooligans/ friends to ride with

Anyone else out and about this weekend?

I got out Saturday evening for a little while, it was nothing compared to yesterday though. So many bikes out yesterday and I was stuck running errands in my wife's golf. Oh well about to hop on and ride to work this morning, the weekend warriors can keep the beautiful Sunday afternoon I've got the 46 degree morning commute all to myself.

Went out yesterday. Sure needed that.

I predicted the wankers would be crashing their bikes on all the loose crap still on the road. Sure enough, first claim on my work computer this AM is a Hardley-Movingson.

I put the carbs back on my bike, searching for the clip that holds the choke cable.

Hopefully will ride this week.

My bike needs a lot of work... I haven't been very proactive about it this winter.

Nobody happens to need a carb rack for an '82 Honda 750, eh?

I should be sending off my forks, again, for damping changes and caps that give me external damping adjustments (stock RC46 VFR's do not have such caps). Working with a guy that specializes in these bikes and he's been good to work with but I think the bike actually lost comfort somehow in the process of 'having it build to my specs'. Basically from the factory the rear is a pogo-stick, the rework now has the front skipping off of bumps and upsetting the bike. Wheee....

The weather later this week looks awesome for riding. Ah well. Need to get the battery re-charged and change all fluids sometime as well. Just haven't been riding much over the last 8 or so months.

I'm hoping that it stays crappy here long enough for my buddy's garage to be completed. That way I'll have an excuse to tare into it on my cafe mission. If not, I know I be on the Murdercycle immediately. So I wait.

I'm in NorCal. Riding season started back in January. Heck, it doesn't even really need to stop for more than a week or two based on rain.

This was a FANTASTIC riding weekend out here though. My fiancee got her permit on Friday, and my dad rode out from Sacramento on Saturday (these two were not planned in connection with each other). Now we need to get her to take the MSF course so I can have a good excuse to buy another bike.

So Saturday afternoon we went to a parking lot so that she could start learning to ride on the Ninja. She was super excited to get to the point of shifting gears and taking turns while keeping her feet up on the pegs. She loved it. My dad let me test drive his BMW K1200GTS while she played around. Man, stepping up to twice the weight and 3 times the power was interesting.

Then Sunday my dad and I rode together for about half of his way back to Sacramento. Down the coast on HWY1, cut in through wine country on 128, then split when we hit 101. He headed South-East, and I looped back around to the North. Lot of fun to just smell the changes in environment while riding along.

I rode on Saturday, it was maybe 50 or so. Pretty nice for the 'Burgh, but Sunday was T-Shirt weather so I wish I could have made it out again. My buddy tried to come along, but what he drives is a real tank and it couldn't keep up.

What's this "first ride" stuff I'm hearing about? Keep those things on the road.

No riding, yet... though the sun does finally feel warm again.

Bought this though:

Its a 1998 Nighthawk 750 with 6500 miles on it. Needs some freshening up as its been sitting for almost 2 years, but the price was good and the bike is clean. Can't wait to put some miles on something meant for it lol.

Those are awesome bikes. I almost bought one before realizing I really needed a dual sport. Haven't met a Nighthawk owner yet that sold his and didn't regret it.

I don't take my bike out until the salt has been washed off of the road.
