What do you guys wear for street riding? I finally bought some real gear; I guess I'll look like a tool when I go riding around. Anyone else wear a one or two piece suit for street riding?

Boots covering ankles, Mesh armored jacket in summer, armored quilted kevlar/gortex jacket in winter. Gloves always. Full face helmet always.

Need to invest in riding pants

Yeah, I used to wear a full face helmet, gloves, combat boots, jeans, and a mesh armored jacket. Now, I have a Spartan Charger V2.0 2-piece suit, Alpinestars SMX-5 boots, and Spartan Charger gauntlets. I guess the only thing I didn't replace was my helmet, lol.

I wear an armored textile jacket (converts to mesh for summer), full helmet, gloves, jeans, and doc martens. I need to get some gear for the bottom half but I haven't yet.

Similar to grtechguy, boots that cover the ankles, armored Shift jacket with removable quilted liner, full face helmet and gloves. I too, need to invest in riding pants of some sort, but doubt it's going to happen this year.

I got some Alpinestar BAT leather pants that zip into my jackets. I should sell them, my fat a$$ ain't getting into them anytime soon.

anyone wear a size 34' to 36" pant? the wifes gear is also for sale.

Now we ride with A-star shoes, kevlar reinforced jeans, leather or mesh jackets, gloves and helmets everytime we ride. Falling off hurts.

Full-face helmet, armored leather jacket, (mildly) armored gloves, jeans, and full-length motorcycle boots. The jacket is warm, but I'm used to heat. The backpad made a noticeable increase in temperature. I also have some leather pants that I wear on longer, higher-speed rides, but it is a bit annoying dressed in full-on Power Ranger; I look like a supertool.

And may I suggest ebay for used gear? It has some of the best prices that I have seen for good leather gear, especially if the design is hideous or it advertises a single make or model on the jacket. My pants were about $100, which is less than a quarter of the price that new ones go for. I once bought a Vanson suit for about $150. Buying the hard armor for it alone would cost more than that. Suits are hard to size, but if you ask the seller a lot of questions, you can probably find one that fits pretty well.

I sold this suit this summer for $225 shipped! It was new, came with a bike I bought but was to small for me.

Took forever to sell too. Was nice quality and made in the USA.

I believe I've perfected looking like a tool while geared up...

I'll explain in pictures:

Head: Scorpion EXO-700 Or Fulmer ADV

Body:
Olympia Stealth or Firstgear Kilimanjaro: or AGV Sport leather jacket

and Fieldsheer Mercury Or Draggin' Liners over jeans Hands:
Rev'it Zenith Feet:
Gaerne Balanced Oiled or Oxtar Matrix

I'm a huge gear whore, and an AGATT snob. I watch the flea market on ADVrider like a hawk, there's not often medium-sized gear offered up, those fat berkeleys.

The Olympia Stealth is so good for commuting, I'm buying a second suit over the winter for those cooler days. Commuting in a two-piece setup just doesn't work. It'll probably be a Teiz Lombard in hi-viz.

It's almost impossible to find cheap, used gear in my size. It's either for bean poles or fat guys.

Please point me to your source of used bean pole gear.

I found plenty on ebay. An Alpinestars MX-1 suit went for $300 and a SG-1 went for $200. Finding jackets is easy, but a one or two-piece suit that fits my chest is usually way too baggy in other areas, and seems to be made for people taller than I am.

Same as GRTechGuy, but I did add a rainsuit recently because I have the space for it. Wet & Windy sucks.

Dragger liners under some kind of regular pants, black leather boots that lace above the ankle, FirstGear Kilamanjaro jacket, steel mesh lined gloves, HJC full face.

+million for used stuff. I've scored big, all but the helmet came from ADV classifieds: First Gear Kilamanjero jacket with liner $100 First Gear overpants (looked unworn) $85 Alpinstars no-lace boots $85 (appeared unworn) HJC super light helmet $25 (yes, really). It's pretty hideous, as you can see in the following pic, but I can't see how ugly it is when it's on my head. For gloves I wear "bull riding" gloves from Tractor Supply, I think they are deerskin. We can debate the level of safety they provide but they are comfortable, warm for fall/spring riding and cheap. Oh, and ugly, since they don't match the rest of my getup (tan). In addition, I got a mesh jacket for summer as I just couldn't stand the Kilamanjero in the humidity we get. It's a Joe Rocket, definately used but perfectly fine, I think it cost me $75 (almost 3x that new). You take a risk on fit with some of this stuff but most of the vendor sites have good measurement charts so it's not too hard to figure out. The biggest risk was the helmet as I fell in-between two sizes, but this one fits me darn near perfect. The bike is so ugly I doubt anyone notices the rider (I'll be painting it this winter).

At least if someone notices I look like a tool, they've seen me.

There is a fair amount of neon yellow on my gear.

This is the reason all of my gear is pink (well, that and I LOVE pink). My helmet is obnoxious enough by itself, add in the headache inducing pink, black and white striped jacket and I don't blend in to anything :)

Fieldsheer Highland jacket:

Fieldsheer Mercury Pants

Fly Maverik ATV boots

Scorpion gloves of some sort and a helmet who's brand I have forgotten. Got all of it for right around $500 brand new. Motorcyclecloseouts.com has wicked good deals on gear. In fact, when I was getting those pictures, I noticed every one of those things are cheaper now than when I bought them Regardless, the jacket and pants are waterproof and have zip out quilted liners for those cold days. They have hard armor in the shoulders, spine, elbows and knees with soft armor on the hips and kidneys. This thread makes me realize I need to get back on my bike.

Careful about gear with stripes or lots of different colors. It breaks up your outline, and you blend in more than you think.

The best way I've found to be seen is to have your lights do something annoying. Also, jeans protect you just about as well as shorts do...

I've wrecked in good jeans and I beg to differ... I had no rash, but did need stitches in one knee from initial impact in one accident. The other accident I had no damage to my legs, hips, etc, but had damage to my hand that I'm not sure the best gloves would have avoided.

However, anything with some decent knee protection would have saved me some stitches for sure.

I wrecked an atv in shorts one time and man do I WISH I had jeans on.

Still I'm looking for some decent summer overpants or the draggin jeans liners. The tourmaster pants cover me in winter and cool weather.

Denim begins to wear through almost instantly upon contact with pavement. Do not think that your Levis protect you. Fat people's asses wear through them as well.
