Found a 1981 Honda CB650 for sale. 9800 miles. Looks pretty ok and $600.
I have my CB200 and my SV650 but want a smaller bike to fill the gap. I have been looking at Ninja 250s and 500s, CB550, Kaw 550 etc.
Is this bike comparible to any of the bikes listed above?
Opinions on CB650? Good or bad buy?
Uh, why?
Would it really be smaller than the SV? Certainly won't be as well rounded as the SV.
i like smaller bikes cause you can wring em out and still be totally legal. I realized that when riding the Cb200 around for a day
But IS the CB650 smaller than the SV, weight wise? A slow heavy bike isn't a whole lot of fun. I'm all for collecting massive amounts of motorcycles, but still kind of wondering what gap you'd be filling with one.
With your collection, I'd be looking at supermotos.
GPz-750 fills the gap nicely.
Yamaha 650 Street Tracker fills the gap nicely, lighter and makes all the right noises.

im looking for a lower weight lower power bike. Somthing to fill the space between a CB200 and a sv650.
Does a CB650 fufill that? if not else would.
I really dig the Ninja 250
The CB650's are not all that common. There are far more CB550's and CB750's out there, which could make finding parts for those much easier.

If you throw a leg over a CB650, you'll find it bigger and heavier than your SV.
The Ninja 250 is the droid you're looking for.
Iv been told that the Ninja 250 is like riding the Isle of Man every day. While liter bikes are lucky to reach 3 or 4th gear, you're pinning it around every curve.

Ninja 250?
650 - 200 = 450/2 = 225 +200 = 425. 425 is half way between 200 & 650.
How about a 450? Myy kid had a GS 450 made into Cafe and just spanked my brother's 80 cube Harley.
Light, quick, easy to ride.
That is more bobber then cafe, but looks awesome. How loud is it? Are there any baffles in exhaust?
IIRC the CB650 is pretty much the best of the middleweight SOHC Honda line (500 & 550), especially if it's not the cruiser style one.
I have one that's being totally restored, 81 cb650c. I also had a sv650 and it's heavier, bigger and slower, nice bike just not what you're looking for.
Think RD 350 or 400 as gap filler.
Owning a similar bike to your 200...I'm not sure exactly why you need to fill a gap.
I ride 10 miles to work and back on my cl200 as long as it's above 40 in the morning, there's no rain in the forecast, and I don't need to make a home depot run on the way home.
It'll do 55 comfortably.
From this point on, I speak with no experience, so feel free to give me a beat down if I'm out of line:
I'd love to have a sub 700 cc (500 give or take) bike to ride that was more modern, reliable, nimble and all that.
If I had an SV650, I don't think I'd feel like there was much of a gap in my motorcycle coverage.
If you do feel there is a gap and you're ok with another vintage bike...a CB350 or so might fit the bill.

I'm jonesing for one of these. I somehow missed out on the two-stroke goodness, and must sample.
