Well, talking with mndsm about his 'rolla journey, I found myself at GRM for the first time. Well, name is Mark, from MN originally, now live as close to MN as I can in WI. Drive a 2004 Mazda3 as my daily, but ride a 2002 Triumph Speed Triple with:

Akrapovic slip on, K&N air filter, TuneECU tune, Bridgestone BT3 tires, FasstCo Flexx bars, A'me Chicane grips, Custom gauge bracket(soon to be redone). Custom mounted 03-06 Z1000 headlight

And for the pics:

Welcome.

Can you tell me more about the hand guards? I'm thinking of getting some for my bike. Do the offer a lot of wind reduction for the top of you fingers/knuckles? That's where I get the coldest when riding on cool/cold mornings.

There's definitely a reduction/deflection of wind/rocks/bugs around the hands and fingers. There's enough difference that I don't see myself going back to not having them. I've rode with temps around 45 and they provided enough deflection that the hands were comfortable.

I like the dual 5 3/4" headlight setup that is stock, however, I have always liked the Z1000 headlight. Being the Speed Triple didn't have a headlight when I purchased it, it came down to cost and functionality. The dual stock setup is tough to come by, they go quite a few pretty pennies and they do not connect to the forks like I wanted. I found the z1000 headlight, made a makeshift headlight bracket that connects to the forks with stuff laying around my gf's dad's shop, modified H4 bulbs to fit the Z1000 H7 sockets and I'm in it for 1/4 the price of the stock dual setup. After all, I've always planned it be a true streetfighter, find parts and retrofit them with the built, not bought mentality.

The FasstCo Flexxbars are designed for to reduce vibrations and arm pump for Motocross and Snocross. I picked up a setup of these bars originally to put on my 93 GSXR streetfighter build that stalled. When I got the Speed Triple, I couldn't resist and had to put them on. They definitely reduce the arm pump and vibrations. Sure they are expensive, but they work. To my knowledge, I am the first one to put them on a street bike. I definitely would put them on other bikes if I had more than the Speed Triple.

Not much of an update on the Speed Triple. Work hasn't been going to well, I am getting discouraged and financially it is hurting as well. Can't do work on the bike when I can't pay my bills.

So, I was cleaning the house the other day, found my PCIII that I pulled off earlier in 2014. Took a look at it, a wire on one of the cylinders seems to have never been attached or not very tight from the factory.

I contacted DynoJet about it, their response was on the lines of ship it to us, pay $25 plus any parts then pay for shipping back. No conversation about what I had asked in the email about warranty or defects, just send us money. So, I am comtemplating if I should send it to them to fix it their way, or just do it myself and hope it sticks. lol

I know I can tune without the PCIII, with TuneECU. However, I do not have the knowledge of tuning nor where to even get started. Another trip up, is no one around me will tune directly to the ECU. So, the PCIII will help, but I am not sure if I can stand behind company that won't even answer my questions and just tells me to give them money.

I dislike hearing that work is not going well. Probably because your boss won't sell me a goddamn corolla.

Nice bike, welcome to GRM!

Stop drooling on your gas tank.

Cool bike! Maybe we will meet at wagonfest. Hint, hint MSDSM.

Anyway, I have an 01 ST that is in pieces that I am slowly doing a street triple naked build on.

Nice bike! I like the bars and the headlight. I was contemplating installing the Z1000 headlight on my SV1000, but they're kinda pricy. Dealerships are the suck. Good luck!

Still working on that. Let it thaw here a bit.

Thanks! That tank paint erosion still pisses me off. Such a dumb ass berkeleying move. I removed the tank to get at the injector side of the throttle cables, spaced the fact that it had almost a full tank of gas, next thing I knew, I smelled gas and bam. I was going to repaint over it, but I said berkeley that E36 M3, once I am done, I'll repaint everything.

STs are nice bikes. Get her naked, slap a head light on it and ride her dirty...

Also, have you looked into TuneECU for better/different maps?

I am actually planning on swapping tails and front end to a USD front. That's if I don't restart my slingshot GSXR builds.

Thanks. Z1000 headlights are common on streetfighter builds. I found this headlight on customfighters.com. Guy had cut the sides down to fit his clipons, then went a different way for his headlight. I ended up getting it for a steal, then with my gf's dad's help, we made a quick headlight bracket.
