I finally got some internet back. Posted pics.

(the first two were taken with my Droid, the second set were taken with an Iphone 4...for all you haters out there.)

Paid $3.19 a gallon today. You've got the right vehicle at the right time. If you're riding much at night, you might want to put some relfecting material on your back pack. Looks like fun.

Yeah, the backpack has two silver reflective strips, thats why I wear it. I was also thinking about rigging a small "high mounted brake light" that would be activated by my hand, maybe I could wire it to my glove or something.

In the top picture, it only shows the right hand mirror. I had to replace the left hand side mirror bracket/clutch bracket, because the mirror had broken off. I also replaced the oem round mirrors with flag style mirrors for better rearward visibility.

So far, I go all week on about a gallon and a half (a full tank).

It needs new reeds, and maybe a new air filter, but after over 200 miles with my fat ass on it, winding it out to 11 grand every shift, it is still working like a champ, and it still puts a smile on my face.

So I went to replace the reeds last night with new Boyesen reeds purchased from Treatland.TV. They don't fit.

Turns out, someone replaced the reed block with a 4 petal block. Anyone have any idea what 4 petal block may fit in this head? I will include pictures later this evening.

Hey, if somebody's looking for one of these, one just popped up on my local (St. Louis) Craigslist:

I'd check it out/do the deal/pick it up/store it if somebody's interested.

depending on the big bore, that could be a ton of fun. The cafe style handle bars are pretty cool too.

definitely worth the price, but talk them down about 100 bucks anyway.

I had a pinhole leak in my front tube this morning on the way to work. It is very disconcerting to ride a bike with a low front tire. I started noticing it about a mile from work when the handlebars started shimmying at about 45 miles per hour. Cornering suddenly got WAY worse.

anyway, I patched the tube today after work, and rode it home.

While dealing with that, I decided that after the new year, I am going to put two brand new tubes and two brand new tires on the bike (the tires are dry rotting, and are probably older than I am. The bike only has 6000 miles, so I would not doubt that they are original to the bike)

so, where do I get a tube and a tire, preferably something with slightly more sporting intention, for an 18 X 1.2 rim? Also, does anyone know where to get alternative rims for this?

J.C. Whitney used to list 'smaller sized' tires and tubes, but I haven't looked at one of their catalogs in a couple of years. BTW, I also carry a can of slimey stuff in case of a puncture-it will get me home where I can change my tire in comfort. With only two little patches of rubber between me and eternity, I want them to be the best pieces of rubber they can be.
