Under the prodding of SWMBO, I am focusing more on motorcycle projects.
a.) Cheaper to buy.
b.) Take up less room when disassembled.
c.) Faster turn around.
d.) More desirable to the general population than some of my cars.
Who are you and what did you do with my wife?
I'm thinking about a Naked Wing.
$700.

Kinda like to head off in this direction ......
So, are you asking for the inmates' approval?
You're got my vote. Do it!
Absolutely, and fully document it so I can take notes for when I do it. I've been wanting to do this for a little while now
Do it!
And get them to throw in the oversized football helmet, then use it as a fairing/headlight housing
Go ride a naked wing first. Then you will stop asking questions and get to buying one...

I have a list of things I would do differently.

I don't like the chopped tail, but I like a whole lot of other things about this build. If my eyes aren't lying to me, those are 17" wheels front and rear, which I like a lot more than the stock staggered setup. A modern-ish sport-bike front end complete with brakes would be a great improvement as well.
Exposing the cam belt to all the junk coming off the front wheel would scare me.
I'm not trying to rain an anyone's parade, but if you like 'Wings, knock yourself out. Personally, I despise the things as bloated, overweight shaft-driven piles. Some (like the red one above) are kinda cool, but I'd never spend any time building one. I just don't get the appeal of the them, I guess.
the black one, the last one you posted....wow. awesome
You guys do know that the goldwing originally came naked, right?
They were also the second fastest bike from Japan when they first came out.
I've found that the people who complain about shaft drive bikes haven't ridden any.

Be advised: the carb linkage is Goldbergian (as in Rube) at best. And a lot of the back end has to come off to get to the fuel tank, which is mainly under the seat. So if you get one non-running and needing fuel system work, you'll have a lot of "fun" in store there.
They'll never be canyon carvers, but for a more relaxed attitude, early Wings are not without their charms.
Don't guys swap weber dgv's on these early ones to cure the throttle linkage issues? Thought I heard that somewhere just don't remember where
The last one post by the OP, The black one.... makes my pants tight
