So here it is. 2015 Yamaha FZ-09. purchased late Feb by the last owner, put 1300 miles. Best price I could find on new was $8100 out the door. Paid $6k. Rode it to work in the rain this morning. LOVE it.

Great looking bike. Sure is good to see the plastic coming off of some designs. I think Id have to use the fender eliminator but that's just a personal preference.
Very nice. Good deal too. An acquaintance of mine bought one for his wife... and she only rode it a little. Then his Tenere broke down. He has been riding it non-stop ever since.
I'm ecstatic about the purchase. Wife not so much but she'll feel better once the NH is gone and there's some cash back in the bank.
Did you cross shop the fz07 at all? I have been looking at both for my next bike and plan to ride both. The general reports are confusing me. Looks fun though!

Yes, we did. The price point (new) was nice, but I looked like a polar bear ridinga unicycle on one. It's a smaller bike overall than the -09 and I'm not a smaller guy (6', 220-ish[losing still] and large framed). If you're under 6' and slender build or female I think the -07 would be perfect. For me... bring on all the torques of that amazeballs triple.
Not yet. Had a looker last night. No commitment. One more scheduled in on Thursday visiting from out of town.

One letter. Just one letter and this is a much more interesting thread.

Was it filling, at least? Could you just eat one?
I sat on one on Saturday at the dealer. Just rocking it side to side it felt like the CG is very low. Felt like it could be oodles of hoots. I want one. Nice find!

I'll echo that, the fz-07 is good, but in that size class you have the Ninja 650r & KTM 690 Duke which are both better bikes....hell, the Duke is even worth the premium they ask for them.
In reply to yamaha:
That really depends on who you ask. I have seen the FZ07 ranked higher than the ninja on a few magazine reviews and the Duke isn't what most people call "commuter friendly." However, I have a vague idea what you like and am sure that you think my opinion is incorrect.

I would second your opinion, but all are physically too small for my fat but. The -09 is amazing in all respects. Like.... SPACE SHIP. Then again.... I've owned a 1970's designed bike built in the early 90's for 17 years. My view may be skewed.
See, I am 6'2" and ride a Hawk GT, which is basically a 3/4 SV650. My views are skewed the other way. Riding comfort is subjective though. I think that the 09 is selling a LOT better than the 07 meaning more available in the next few years to be picked up at nice prices.
I'm 5'11", 180-182 lbs, and have a 650R. I really like it, but with the stock seat it slid me down and my beans and frank always felt smashed on the tank. I added padding and recovered my seat and it is glorious now. My twig and berries are well pleased.
I didn't look at the Yammys cause they were all out of my price range.
I looked at and sat on a Hawk GT and it felt small.
With that said where is the ad for the Hawk?
In reply to octavious:
His nighthawk is listed in the open classifieds.
Singleslammer, you're right.....I still believe the sv650 is an awful bike, yet like the hawk GT's. LoL
So... finally figured out how to use the modes and display. Filled up yesterday. Averaging 55.4mpg on the trip to and from work. Scary mode is not scary. At all. My only issue with it is it's a bit abrupt on throttle closure. For that reason only I run it in the middle mode. Ckicken strips getting smaller.... and a ride coming up next Sunday.
Overall... FANTASTIC bike and best purchase I've made since.... don't know.
In reply to Bobzilla:
That is awesome. I'm lucky to get 40mpg out of the GSA. How is the seating position for longer rides? Can you sit there thru two tanks in a day without walking funny for an hour after? Does it have ABS? If it does... can you turn it off?
These modes you speak of... different throttle mapping or some sort of traction control?
No TCS, no ABS. IT's throttle mapping and fueling as I understand it. wimpy mode takes ~10hp out of the engine and makes throttle inputs very lethargic.
I'll know more on the seating postion after next weekend. My one complaint is the seat is HARD.... especially for a middle aged ginger with a soft tushy. But on the 30 minutes at a time I spend on it it's better than the NH.
