Bike Bandit is having sells on riding gear all the time. I got dirtbike gear (pants, googles, gloves and Snell rated helmet) for $150.

If I saved all the money I spent on gear before I bit the bullet and got my Aerostich, I could have bought two.

Generally speaking, cheap gear is cheap, and good gear is not.

Just sayin'.

Riding a motorcycle in itself is an educated risk. I take an educated risk every time I ride, because I know it is dangerous to be on a bike with nothing around you. Drivers are innatentive...they can and will kill you.

I do wear a very nice Snell 2010 helmet, as well as A-stars cuff gloves, and a decent A-stars jacket. If I fall, I may rash up my leg a bit, and I may not. That's why I try not to fall.

Depends on the Carhartts; some of them are made from the same Cordera (sp?) that a lot of textile riding gear is made from.

This is true. Ragging other motorcyclist about not wearing certain gear is like admonishing a fellow chainsaw juggler for not wearing the approved goggles.

I just wear gear because I want the fall to hurt less should it happen. Well, also because I think it looks cool, but mostly the pain part.

I have First Gear overpants. I bought them because I needed something for chilly weather and they were available. I had no idea if what I was buying was a good idea or not. Turns out I'm actually quite pleased with them. Liner=check. Knee protection=check. Wind protection=check. EZ on/off=check. Make me look like an ATGATT dork=check. I've been pleasantly surprised they are decent in hot weather also. The key is using the second zipper and opening an exit at the top of your leg. Allows the hot air to escape. As long as I'm moving, they don't bother me. Motionless, the heat from the bike, road and atmosphere all combines to make it a bit unpleasant, but I have to say riding with just jeans the time I did it wasn't any better. My non-mesh jacket is a bigger hindrance in the heat than the overpants. Shopping for another jacket now.

Whelp, this thread lit the final fire under me to become a total AGATT dork...

Is on my way to my house. Bruce Campbell look alike not included (I'm way more handsome than him anyway).

In reply to ddavidv:

I've been happy with all of the Firstgear products I've purchased. 2 jackets, one mesh, one not, and mesh overpants.

I am officially an AGATT supernerd leatherdaddy. Although the "all the time" will probably be "sometimes."
