I have two Tomos mopeds that have sat for something like 8 years. I cleaned the carbs, drained the gas, and put fresh gas in on the one I am working on now and it will start and run. It has a major bog at full throttle and with it being a 50cc moped, thats where you want to spend most of your time.
Any ideas?
I am going to try cleaning the carbs again and be more thorough.
Does two stroke oil go bad? The oil in the injection reservoir is sill liquid and smells about the same. I do get the right wisp of smoke as though its working just fine. It would be a PITA, but I could probably figure out flushing it if I need to.
Just searching for ideas, not sure if there is something inherent to waking up a two stroke that I am missing.
Anyone want one? basically trying to get them running to sell at least one of them, probably both.

Carb float still good?
Yes, and there isnt really any adjustment.
I think the only adjustment in the carb is for idle, its a very simple design
It probably needs a Kit...
Are you using a brand new spark plug?
My Motobecane ran like garbage until I replaced the crank seals. They had dried out from sitting for an extended period of time.
It was a completely different bike after I did all the seals. And an Airsal kit. And a big ol' Mikuni...
Pull the exhaust pipe, build small fire toss pipe on low fire let it smolder and smoke while you do the next step. Look up exhaust port turn motor over until piston is a BDC, you now should be seeing the other side of the cylinder. use a sharp exacto knife and clean the port of all carbon, don't be surprised if the port has closed up scape it open. Blow out cylinder, grab oven mit and go get the pipe. Use an old chain and feed it in to the pipe then shake and pull push chain to scrape the goop from the inside of the pipe. some times tapping with hammer will make sheets fall off but don't dent the pipe. Allow to cool blow air through pipe to remove dust and flakes. reinstall pipe.
Moped ran well when parked, will pull exhaust to verify there isnt carbon buildup, but I doubt thats the issue.
I'd guess junk in the emulsion tube area.

As they sit the goop will settle in the pipe making it less efficient at scavenging and most do have some build up in the ports but it not noticed as it happens slowly. some guys like a chemical clean for pipes but its hard on the metal and leaves you with a mess to try and dispose of properly.
