How, where, can I rent?
njminigp.com
Not big ones like that, but I'm planning on doing the "Stock 100" class this year. They have rentals.
Also supermotojunkie.com if you want to drool over some more serious ones. I wish supermoto wheels for my DRZ weren't so expensive...
Here is mine
And after I decided to try the sort of off road tires. It was too muddy to make any fun.
The rear is normal size but the front is 20% taller than a regular street tire. It is half way between between a 21" dirt tire and a 120/70-17.
KTM is based close by and they had a free supermoto test day at Sandusky speedway. All you needed to do was bring leathers and get in line.
It was huge fun. I had an enduro and I know I would get into a lot of trouble with a supermoto on the street.

I suppose since you race a light bike on dirt it isn't as novel an idea as someone who spends 90% of their ride time in the saddle of a 1200cc 550lb twin. I crave something I can just about pick up and hang on the garage wall.
I haven't tried it but... a super light bike that handles on tight blacktop, can handle dirt easily with a tire swap, and cheap to buy or fix. How can that not be great?
I love mine, and my riding is split between urban and tight twisty back roads, and it is ridiculous fun in both settings. It is nimble, light, feels faster than it is, and feels like it could ride anywhere. Does ok on dirt, but it is so easy to swap wheels I go back to 21/18 if I plan on offroad. Not recommended for more than a short hop on the highway.
I have intentionally avoided buying a set of super moto wheels for the Beta because I'm sure what I consider reasonable behavior the highway patrol will want to write me a very expensive ticket.......eventually I will cave in and get a set of super moto wheels. As urban assault rides super moto bikes are awesome; you sit up high, they are not fazed by potholes, dips and the big wide bars are on bonus on greasy surface streets. I weigh 140lbs, the heavier the bike the less effect I have on it, so something with 45-50hp and weighing 275lbs or less goes well enough with me on it.

You just need to change your route.

That makes me want an electric one as I think that would be MUCH easier not to get arrested in the US.

I s'pose you're right, but the SM bikes I've ridden didn't easily swap over to dirt use, or go the other way particularly well either. I would prefer a dedicated street or dirt bike.
In reply to Zomby Woof:
The good super motards are the ones designed and built originally for being a super motard. And then you have the 690 duke which is basically a designed cross between a SM and normal road bike.

I dislike when my fantasy does not jibe with reality. Which... seems to be most of the time.

Does it still come in under 300lbs? That would be a spectacular power/weight combo for all kinds of stupid thumper tricks. I need to ride some of these orange koolaid flavored german machines. The 990 gets raves from everyone who touches one too.
