I have a 1978 Honda Goldwing and after seeing the state of my brake lines, started looking at replacements, which in turn led to reading more about the overall brake system and improvements. Apparently one of the better things to do is replace the OEM master cylinder with a replacement such as Randakks upgraded MC. My question is then, instead of spending $170, can I find a sportbike that is being parted out and easily use that master cylinder? Other than making sure the handle bar size is the same (7/8"), what else should I consider? Do most motorcycles use banjo bolts of a common size or does the design vary quite a bit?

One thing that I think will be important to consider is the weight of the motorcycle that the MC came from, as well as making sure it has dual front disks and the same number of pistons in the caliper.

just like in a car BORE size it what realy matters most. Banjo bolts have diffrent thread sizes and pitch depending on the maker. Some are easay to find other are Dealer only....BTDT.

I was able to find a chart to help determine the brake ratio based on the master cylinder size and cylinder piston size.
