I love using oil spill mats to protect my floors, but I've always found them to be a nightmare to clean. They're too fuzzy to be brushed with a broom and they are so thin that regular vacuum cleaners just get stuck to them.
That was until today, when I realized that my cheap cordless handi-vac has the exact amount of suction needed to lift dirt and kitty litter out of these oil-absorbing mats without getting stuck. Apparently the mildly anemic motors in these vacuums are just strong enough to get the dust out without sucking up the lining of the mat.
Now I regret throwing out all those cheap dustbusters over the years.
