If you have a decent compressor and a tire machine it would be quite easy. Without those things it's probably easier to just use a couple dozen small pieces of painters' tape, right?

This is how I do it. Note cards.
Old beer bottle caps dropped in the lug nut holes will mask off the nut engagement area quite well. Also a great reason to drink at least 16 beers.
