My friend has no time or money for a proper fix. What is the best magical snake oil to buy some time?
How bad is the leak? If it is minor, many "high-mileage" motor oils contain "seal conditioners" which will swell the plastic seals and help with minor leaks.
Other, more aggressive chemicals often have side effects, so I would start with the high mileage oil.
