I put a big check-off on my bucket list with a trip to Spa Belgium for the Six Hours Vintage Race this fall. The timing worked out great as my wife was already in Amsterdam for business, so she extended her trip and I flew in and met her.
After an afternoon visit to the Austin Healey Museum about 20 minutes from downtown Amsterdam, we decided take a train to Brussels, Belgium. We enjoyed the sites for couple days, then rented a car to drive to Spa.
The race weekend held on the spectacular Spa Formula 1 track is a three day event which attracts the best vintage race teams from all across Europe. I've raced a big Healey here in the states for 15-20 years and have developed a network of friends in the UK and Europe, it was wonderful to finally meet and cheer some of them on throughout the weekend.
The track is incredible with spectator viewing almost completely around the whole 4.35 miles. The Eau Rouge is unbelievable, the cars drift almost across the whole track as they make the climb.
If you ever have a chance, it's well worth making it. Beautiful area of the country, the people are great, food and beer wonderful. https://www.mastershistoricracing.com/spa-six-hours/event/
