Last year, we drove up to Manhattan from Atlanta. This year, we drove a little further to the west and hit up Chicago....and more. Took off last Wednesday. Ended up, Thursday, in Chicago to see the city and meet a cool dude and his wife. Left there and went down to Effingham, IL for the Mid America Motorworks, VW Funfest 2017 show. Nice show, it was. Met and talked and had lunch with some of the guys of the Vintage VW Club of Louisville. Very nice folks. One of the last things I expected to come out of this trip was an award at this show. Celebrity Choice Award. Honored, for sure, about this. Woke up Sunday to head back towards Atlanta and just on a whim, took off on I-70 west bound. Rolled through St. Louis to see the Gateway Arch. After that, we did head home.
A nice little 1,800 miler on this one. Good father/son outing that we both enjoyed. That was the focal point of this trip.
