Going to post pictures of all the state parks we go to this spring/summer/fall. First up was dinosaur valley state park, in Glen rose. Great scenic views, friendly staff, good facilities, and DINOSAURS. Great hiking too, with lots of elevation changes.

Been spending a lot of time at mineral wells state park. The trails (so far) have been pretty tame, but it's only 10 minutes from the house and because of that it's my favorite park. Going to try the primitive camp sites in the next few weeks (2.5 mile hike to the sites, no vehicle access)

Been there many times.

I like to ride the Mineral Wells trailway on my bike. It's about 35 odd miles out and back. I go from Weatherford to MW lake, eat my snack on the boat dock by the little store, and ride back to Weatherford. That's about as far, riding off road, as this old man cares to do.

The Cross Timbers Maroon Trail is pretty good. If you go clockwise, there is a steep hill (at the top there is a sign to dismount horse/bike) and then a gradual slope with plenty of rock gardens on the way down. Sort of see it here, this is at the top looking down the trail:

There are excellent parks nearby, my favorites are Copper Breaks and Caprock Canyons. Fort Richardson SP is smallish, but the remaining fort structures are neat to look at, you can go into the hospital. It also has a nine mile trail from the fort to the opposite side of Jacksboro. Its not a state park, but the trails out at Possum Kingdom Lake are good, too.

This is from the Rocky Ledges trail at Copper Breaks:
