They are including a year of NASA membership with a 2022 Supra purchase as well!
Toyota officially released engine specs for its upcoming 2022 GR 86 today, rating the car’s 2.4-liter flat-four for 228 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft of torque. That’s an increase of 23 horsepower and 28 lb.-ft. over the outgoing 86 and, perhaps not surprisingly, is on par with the new Subaru BRZ.
Toyota claims zero to 60 mph will only take 6.1 seconds if you chose the six-speed manual, 6.6 seconds if you opt for the automatic.
In the handling depart, the new 86 uses a combo of struts in the front and double wishbones in the rear. Depending on the grade–either the “base” model or “Premium” trim–the 86 will come with either 17-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Primacy HP tires or 18-inch wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.
[Can't wait? Check out our review of the outgoing 2020 Toyota 86.]
As well, every 2022 GR 86 sold comes with a complimentary one-year NASA membership that includes one free HPDE event, as well as discounted admission to NASA events.
Toyota has yet to release pricing, though does tell us that it will be “announced in the coming months,” with the 86 going on sale “later this year.”
Are they going to pull the same stunt that Subaru did with the free SCCA memberships for WRX buyers, and then deny warranty claims?
