Since the mid-'80s, the British outfit has been building and modifying Land Rovers—namely the Defender—into off-road speed machines that can take on everything from the muddy English countryside to the grueling Dakar Rally.
Naturally, the company’s latest model, the Bulldog, doesn’t disappoint.
Starting with the Defender model of your choice, Bowler offers two choices of powerplant: a 280-horsepower turbodiesel V6 from a modern Land Rover or a 400-plus-horsepower supercharged V6 from Jaguar.
From there, the whole Defender is modified to handle the rigors of off-road racing events with extras like an FIA-approved roll cage, a full space-frame chassis, and a heavy-duty suspension that allows for plenty of travel. Of course, as a hand-built race machine, the Bulldog can be further modified to your liking.
Now, the sort of performance you can expect from a Bulldog doesn’t come cheap—not to mention the fact that it's currently unavailable here in the United States. Although no official prices for a new model are mentioned, a used 2018 Bulldog currently for sale on the company's website is listed at £92,000 (approximately $120,000).
